It's difficult to get any real information about North Korea, and this video comes close to offering something substantive.

I said close, but it was a little disappointing to see the reporter ask her North Korean minders if they ever questioned what they were taught.

For them say anything except "No." (and quickly at that) would mean sentencing themselves to death.

People all over the world learn 'doublespeak', but usually in the course of social relations. In North Korea it is a requirement to learn it quickly and early as a matter of survival.

I am sure the school children depicted have witnessed peers who never managed to provide correct answers to questions of belief and State suffer the consequences.

I am from Romania. This country was a former comunist country with a dictator. Same things happened to the people here: bad treatments, songs for our "beloved leader", no western civilization reached us, hunger, no electricity, no TV, media controlled by comunist party, etc. It wasn't like the North Korea regim, but the comunist and dictatorial elements existed. This until 1989...

I want to say that those people in North Korea are brainwashed. All are the same entity, no future, no individuality, no nothing.

Nuclear and poison gas and other means of such killing methods were not used.
